Reporting Mailbox and Lawn Damage from Snow Removal
A properly installed and maintained mailbox should withstand snow removal operations. If improperly placed, the front face of the mailbox extends past the back of the curb edge or edge of pavement into the street, chances are the mailbox could be hit by a snow plow.
In the event your properly placed mailbox is knocked down as a result of plowing, call West Chester roads division at (513) 777-8765 or use the form here.
The roads division will repair/replace mailboxes damaged by a plow strike. Replacements when necessary will be with a standard U.S. postal mailbox and 4 x 4 pine or cedar post.
Boxes knocked down from plow-thrown snow will be refastened if possible. Boxes down due to deteriorated materials will be the responsibility of the owner.
Improperly installed mailboxes will also be the responsibility of the owner.
Altered, custom-made or decorative mailboxes damaged by plow strike will be replaced with a standard U.S. postal mailbox and post.
The Township is not responsible for any mailbox that is not the standard U.S. postal mailbox permitted in the public right-of-way. Replacement of "designer" mailboxes will be the responsibility of the owner.
For damaged mailboxes on county roads, contact the Butler County Engineer's Office at (513) 867-5744. For those on state routes, contact the Ohio Department of Transportation at 1-800-831-2142.
Sprinkler systems, landscaping, basketball hoops and dog fences are not permitted in the public right-or-way. The Township does not repair or replace non-permitted items in the right-of-way.
Lawn damage suffered by snow plow operations will be repaired by the roads division. Please call (513) 777-8765 or use the form here to report damages.
Mailbox repairs will not take place until current snow operations are finished. Future snow events could delay repairs further. Repairs to lawns will not be completed until weather permits.
