Police Department Programs Designed to Keep You Safe
The West Chester Police Department offers a wide range of community programming designed to create awareness, build partnerships to support crime prevention and empower residents and businesses.
Officers make nearly 250 public appearances annually reaching more than 20,000 people with important crime prevention information.
Lakota Local Schools invite West Chester police officers regularly into buildings to serve as a resource to staff and students. Each school year, several patrol officers are specifically designated as School Resource Officers to interact with staff and students gathering information and offering important prevention information including Stranger Danger for younger students and Prom Promise/dangers of driving under the influence and anti-bullying for older students.
West Chester residents benefit from nearly 30 Neighborhood Watch groups working closely with the Police Department providing information that supports law enforcement efforts community wide.
The Police Department also reaches out to businesses to provide specialized training to prepare for crises in the workplace.
