Post Date:10/09/2024 1:30 PM

On the heels of the deployment of two West Chester first responders for Hurricane Helene, another from West Chester Fire Department is headed to Florida to assist Hurricane Milton response and recovery teams.

Battalion Chief David Mainwaring deployed Tuesday to Tallahassee with the Butler County Incident Management Team (IMT) hours ahead of the Category 5 storm's imminent landfall. The deployment of the Type 3 All Hazards IMT team came at the request of the State of Florida and Florida Division of Emergency Management, according to a press release posted to the Butler County IMT Facebook page.

“The 12-person IMT will deploy for fourteen (14) days with the current mission assignment to support emergency operations for response with local first responders,” the press release states.

Butler County IMT is an experienced all-hazards incident management team consisting of professionals from various emergency services disciplines from throughout the State of Ohio. Butler County IMT deploys under the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) system.

Less than two weeks ago, Risk Management/Training Bureau Chief Trevor Frodge and Lieutenant Ryan Asbrock were deployed to Florida with Ohio Task Force 1.
