Drug Take-Back Day

West Chester Police Department

Safely dispose of unwanted medications at National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

If you have unused prescriptions in your home, please remove any identifying information from the container and stop by Walgreens, located at 7804 Cincinnati-Dayton Road, to drive up and drop off medications.

No need to even get out of your car! West Chester Police will be collecting in the parking lot.

Drug Take-Back Day is a safe, convenient, and responsible way to toss out unused or expired prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications. There are two disposal days each year, one in spring and one in fall. Check back for the fall date.

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is a nationwide initiative of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Liquids, Vape Pens Accepted

Police will now be accepting liquid medications and vape pens. Liquids must be in their original container with the lid tightly fastened to prevent leaking.  Vape pens or other e-cigarette devices will only be accepted after users have removed all batteries.

No Sharps

No needles will be collected. Rumpke Waste & Recycling states sharps can be disposed of by placing the needles in a hard plastic container, such as a bleach bottle, then securing the lid and throwing them in your regular TRASH. Please write "SHARPS" on the bottle.

Year-round Disposal

Collection bins provided by the Ohio Attorney General's office are also available year-round at certain law enforcement agencies throughout the state. Locate a Prescription Drug Drop Box near you.
