West Chester Township does not trap or manage wildlife populations on private property. West Chester Community Services Department only employs wildlife management strategies as it relates to geese on public property.

West Chester is rich in wildlife including raccoons, beaver and coyote which can sometimes become overly familiar and visible in our neighborhoods. Residents are provided with helpful suggestions regarding wildlife management on this website.

West Chester police should be contacted - 911 in an emergency or (513) 777-2231 - if a wild animal appears injured or sick.

West Chester does not have its own animal warden.

If a neighborhood pet is causing a disruption, police encourage neighbors to work together first to find a solution. Dogs barking will fall under the Township's Barking Dog Ordinance, Resolution No. 91-20.  This ordinance states, no person shall keep or harbor any dog within West Chester Township which by frequent and habitual barking, howling or yelping, creates unreasonably loud and disturbing noises of such a character, intensity and duration as to disturb the peace and quiet of any person in the Township.  Any person who allows any dog habitually to remain or be lodged or fed within any dwelling, building, yard or enclosure, which said person owns or occupied shall be considered to be harboring such dog.  Whoever violates this resolution is guilty of a minor misdemeanor subject to the penalty provided in Ohio Revised Code Section 955.99 (I).

Stray animals should be reported to the 24-hour non-emergency police numbers (513) 777-2231 and contact will be made with the Butler County Animal Warden.

The West Chester Police Department provides fingerprinting services free of charge, by appointment only, to residents of our community and to those who work at West Chester Township businesses. Appointments may be scheduled by calling the Central Records Section at (513) 759-7261. Noise control in West Chester applies to residential neighborhoods and commercial business areas. Unreasonable or loud noise is prohibited under the Township’s Noise Ordnance, Resolution No. 2000-30. This ordinance establishes definitions for types of sound generating or amplifying devices, maximum decibel limits, hours of enforcement and exemptions. Whoever violates this resolution is guilty of a minor misdemeanor and is subject to the penalty of civil fines ranging in amount from $100 to $1,000. Photocopies up to 25 pages will be provided free of charge. If the requested report is larger than 25 pages the fee for each photocopy is 5 cents beginning with the first photocopy. The charge for two-sided photocopies is 10 cents per sheet.
