Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
West Chester Fire & Rescue is our community's front line of health care.
The West Chester Fire Department operates six medic units - two on reserve status and four in service 24/7 - with at least one paramedic on each squad.
The squads are equipped with the most up-to-date cardiac monitors and the ability to perform 12 Lead EKGs and transmit the information directly to the hospital prior to patient arrival.
West Chester EMS responds to more than 4,000 calls for medical emergencies, automobile accidents, fires, and HAZMAT incidents every year
The West Chester Fire Department continues to meet federal, state, and local requirements for training and medical protocols, and continues their 40-plus year tradition of care and commitment.

West Chester Township seeks reimbursement from health insurers, Medicare and Medicaid for ambulance transportation and medical supplies used in patient care. This is accomplished through a third-party billing service - Change Healthcare.
Residents of West Chester WILL NOT be charged for service or materials, beyond what is paid by their insurer, Medicare and/or Medicaid. West Chester residents WILL NOT be responsible for co-pays, deductibles, or any uncovered fees.
As a West Chester resident, what should I do if I receive a bill for ambulance service? Contact Change Healthcare, our EMS billing service at 1-800-676-0111 or 1-866-631-2658, Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If the problem is not resolved, call the West Chester Fire Department, (513) 777-1133.
You may receive an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from your insurance carrier and/or a statement from Change Healthcare. If you are a resident of West Chester, this is not a bill.
Non-residents who receive emergency medical service from West Chester Fire & EMS will be responsible for the balance not paid by insurance, Medicare or Medicaid; and will receive a bill from the third-party billing service, Change Healthcare.
