WCPD officer promoted to sergeant
Eight police promotions in three months
The West Chester Board of Trustees promoted a 13-year veteran of the force at their Jan. 24 meeting.
Douglas Farris was promoted to the rank of sergeant to fill a vacant position.
“Officer Farris has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and a knack for detail in all areas of his service with our department,” West Chester Police Chief Joel Herzog said.
Farris has been a police officer for West Chester since 2003. He was selected to serve as a member of the SWAT team in 2006 and later named a SWAT team leader. In 2008, Farris was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Section as a detective.
Eight West Chester Police officers have been promoted up the ranks since October 2015 including one to assistant chief, two each to captain and lieutenant, and three to sergeant.
