The West Chester Board of Trustees promoted Firefighter Jason Hartley to the vacant position of EMS Captain.  The position became vacant as a result of Captain Troy Bonfield’s transfer to the training division.

In his position as EMS Captain, he will manage daily operations of the fire department’s emergency medical services working closely with Chief Rick Prinz and Assistant Chiefs Dave Pickering and Stephen Oughterson.

He was hired as a career firefighter with the West Chester Fire Department in 2007. Firefighter Hartley has been instrumental in the West Chester EMS division lending his talents and skills to the training bureau where he provided EMS trainings to personnel.

Capt. Hartley is a certified Firefighter Paramedic, BLS and ACLS instructor, EMS instructor, PALS instructor and is certified as a Fitness Trainer to evaluate firefighter fitness and offer mentoring with fitness routines.

“Based upon Firefighter Hartley’s exemplary service with the West Chester Fire Department, his training, education and experience, I have no doubt he has the qualifications for the position of EMS Captain,” said Fire Chief Rick Prinz.

Capt. Hartley’s family was on hand for his promotion ceremony at the Board of Trustees meeting.

His approved salary for the new position with new responsibilities is $83,662.36.
